Description

Old Joe Dog Park is named after Joe, the beloved dog of Augustus M. Wilson. Wilson was a self-made man and the original landowner of the property that is now Trinity Falls. Although he denied himself every luxury and lived his entire life in his family’s log cabin, Wilson gave away more than one million dollars to those he felt were deserving of assistance. As a result, people called him “Uncle Gus.” Uncle Gus never married and for years his only companion was his dog Joe. Wilson’s tombstone, which is still standing, features a life-sized reproduction of his faithful dog and is engraved with the touching words, “Joe and I are Going Home.” Our Old Joe Dog Park park memorializes this special dog and friendship.
